...and I thought I was smart because I knew a few Simpsons references.

After reading just a few essays in "The Simpsons and Philosophy", I never realized how intricately placed every, single, tiny allusion to a TV show, celebrity, or landmark movie is in every episode.

Not only that, but one of the essays comments on how allusions are pleasing to a viewer because human nature finds satisfaction in filling out the blanks themselves, whereas there is no feeling of accomplishment in a standard, literal statement.
